Esta ruta que os propongo por la sierra de Avila, vamos a bordear la sierra de Gredos por su vertiente norte, conociendo algunos de sus pueblos -sencillos, recios- disfrutando de algunas vistas sobre Gredos espectaculares por su grandeza y belleza, y también de la conducción en algunos tramos al principio de la ruta en los que se puede "bailar" muy a gusto, con un asfalto en muy buenas condiciones. Tampoco nos olvidamos de dar una vuelta por Avila -sin bajarnos de la moto, por supuesto- y de comernos un buen chuletón de buey, imprescindible si recaemos por esta tierra.

This route I suggest you around the mountains of Avila, is going to go along the mountain mass of Gredos in its northern side, crossing some of its towns -simple, hard ones-enjoying of some spectacular sights over Gredos mountains, and also the driving by some stretches at the beginning of the route where you can "dance" very comfortable, with the asphalt in very good conditions. We can´t forget either to go for a round inside Avila -without get off our Harley, of course- and try a big T-bone of bullock, a must if you travel around this land.

que la historia no es mi fuerte, pero si la buscais, aquí tenéis toneladas.

Salimos de Avila por la carretera CL505 hasta tomar el desvío a AV502 Hoyo de Pinares. Comienza entonces uno de los tramos más conocidos y apreciados por todos los pilotos de motos deportivas: hasta Cebreros, la carretera es un continuo serpentín, una sucesión de curvas variadas con un asfalto en perfectas condiciones. Al tiempo, los guardarrailes que prácticamente no existen en ninguna carretera española, y los ramos frescos de flores en muchas curvas cerradas, nos advierten que estamos ante una carretera muy peligrosa por su trazado que obliga a una conducción prudente.

We leave Avila following the CL505, taking the exit to AV502 Hoyo de Pinares. Then starts one of the most well-known and appreciated stretches by all the sport motorbike riders: up to Cebreros, the road is a non-stopping coil, a continuous succession of bends with asphalt in perfect conditions. At the same time, the rail protections that practically don´t exist -unfortunatelly- in most of the roads of Spain, and the fresh bundles of flowers hanging on them, remind us that we are in a dangerous road which demands all our prudence.

Este tramo divertido de conducción acaba en Cebreros, donde tomaremos una carretera en buenas condiciones que nos llevará a subir el puerto del Arrebatacapas, iniciando un camino por una carretera con muy poco tráfico pero muy buenas condiciones, que nos llevará de vuelta a Avila disfrutando nuevamente de la conducción y de unas bellas vistas.

This fun strecht finishes in Cebreros, where we will take a road, also in good conditions, to climb the pass of Arrebatacapas. This is a nice and quiet road, a road to enjoy driving and
nice sceneries, which will drive us back to Avila again.

Volvemos a Avila para salir de nuevo rumbo a otro puerto de montaña, en este caso el puerto de Navalmoral. Esta carretera se encuentra actualmente en obras de ampliación pero, a pesar de estar cerrada, se puede pasar por ella con seguridad. Si bien no vamos a pasar de segunda velocidad, vamos a disfrutar de nuevo de unas magníficas vistas, en esta ocasión sobre la cordillera montañosa de Gredos, que se alza de manera imponente frente a nosotros, con sus cimas nevadas.
We will return to Avila to get out of it heading a new mountain pass, the pass of Navalmoral. This road is currently under extension works but, although is closed to the traffic, you can drive by here safely. We will not use more than second gear, but we will delight once again with stunning views, this time the mountain range of Gredos, which imposingly erects in front of us with the snowy peaks.


















Una vez bajado el puerto, tomaremos en el pueblo de Navalmoral la carretera que nos lleva hacia la derecha, bordeando Gredos y buscando los dos últimos puertos de montaña de la ruta: el de Chía, y la subida al puerto de la Peña Negra, otro puerto que no se puede dejar de subir si queremos completar el recorrido por los montes de Avila.
Once we go down the pass, we will turn right in Navalmoral village, going along Gredos and making our way to the last two mountain passes of the route: Chía and the ascent to the pass of Peña Negra, one must if you want to complete successfully the road through the mountains of Avila.

Tras alcanzar la cima del puerto y disfrutar de otras bellas vistas sobre la llanura que supone Castilla y León, volvemos sobre nuestros pasos para dar por concluida esta ruta por los Montes de Avila, y disfrutar de un merecido descanso y un suculento Chuletón.
After reaching to top of the last pass and have a look to the plain surface of Castilla y León, we come back following our steps to end this route around Avila Mountains returning to Avila for a deserved rest and a taste a succulent Ox T-Bone while Rafa Nadal wins his fifth Montecarlo Open.
